Podcasts that make a Difference

Here are a few people and podcasts that I think are making a difference in the healthy home space by disseminating information or featuring guests who are making real contributions to our understanding of good health, well-being, and what it takes to make you and your home even healthier.

Dave Asprey’s Bulletproof RadioMy favorite episode is an interview with Robert Soler, a lighting engineer who grew up allergic to the sun and whose research on circadian lighting systems for NASA’s International Space Station helps explain why LED lighting has been your No. 1 public enemy indoors for years.

Nick Pineault’s Smarter Tech-- Mr. Pineault is a writer and journalist who specializes in health and nutrition but now focuses his energy on explaining the health consequences of deploying wireless devices around the home and helping others learn (in his words) “how to fix our stupid use of technology.”

Brian Karr's Mold Finders Radio-- The granddaddy of podcasts covering the field of mold and mold inspections, Mr. Karr is a long-time inspector who has a knack for making discussions about mold interesting and relevant.

Andy Pace’s Non-Toxic Environments--Andy is a long-time acquaintance and colleague who lives and works out of Southeast Wisconsin.  No one knows construction and healthy building materials better, and I lean on him when I have a particularly vexing home-building question or need practical healthy home-building expertise.  Andy consults around the country.

Dr. Christine Schaffner’s Spectrum of Health--The most ‘New Age’ of the podcasts I list here, Dr. Schaffner shares a spectrum of health and wellness information from experts and her experience as a practicing doctor working the vanguard of alternative medicine.  Topics range from chronic illness to anti-aging to bioenergetics and more.  Sometimes esoteric, but always intriguing.

Katie Wells’ Wellness Mama—Targeting women and moms who want to live a healthier life, started by a mom of six with a background in journalism.  Her goal is to present practical advice, real food recipes, DIY beauty tips, green cleaning tutorials, and natural remedies to make your life better.

Jesse Chappus’ Ultimate Health Podcast--An excellent interviewer, Mr. Chappus covers a range of issues that tend to be more down-to-earth and less intimidating than others on this list.  Each podcast features an interview with a different guest.

Dr. Mercola’s Take Control of Your Health—A weekly podcast by a natural health pioneer, the title of this podcast speaks to its content.  Dr. Mercola has become quite conscious and passionate about the dangers of EMFs over the past couple of years. Sometimes cerebral, a bit of a dry wit, a guy I wouldn’t mind having a beer with.
